"Twilight Deluxe Edition" LP (2024) by Haruka Nakamura.
Dedicated to the faint beauty of the time between the sun setting and night falling.
A pale blue evening. The wind blowing through the window. That melody.
Recorded in a seaside studio, this tranquil piano session sees performers such as Araki Shin, Akira Uchida, April Lee, and Janis Crunch meet and then pass away.
At the end of the day. A prayer for the distance. An evening prayer.
Haruka Nakamura's second album, "Twilight," was released in the summer of 2010 by Singapore's KITCHEN. LABEL. The album, which produced classics such as "Twilight" and "Music Scenery," is not only one of the artist's most iconic works but also a best-seller in KITCHEN. LABEL's history. A reissue with a new cover was released in 2013. The deluxe edition includes eight additional unreleased tracks (*) recorded during the original 2010 sessions. The original album was remastered by Haruka Nakamura's longtime collaborator, Gen Tanabe. It comes in a gatefold jacket and includes liner notes by Toshihiko Terada (Ame to Kyujitsu).
Recorded in a studio overlooking the sea, this work is dedicated to the spectacle of twilight as the sun slowly sinks below the horizon. The gradually fading sunlight and the accompanying change in the color of the sky create a fleeting, melancholic atmosphere that twilight creates, and the soundscape is carefully and gently expressed through delicate variations in sound and texture.
Used prices have skyrocketed, but I'm happy to see this album re-pressed in 2024. It's a masterpiece that needs no introduction. I've heard that it's extremely difficult to press quiet music like ambient music without introducing noise. Collectors may not be interested in re-pressings, but the sound quality may be better because it's a re-press (Ammel).
