Troublemakers No.1
Troublemakers No.1
This is the magazine "Troublemakers No.1" (2024) by Troublemakers Publishing, which tells the story of Misfits.
In the first issue, Troublemakers met with Remy Nitta, an American trans woman living in Osaka, Ainu cultural activist Maya Sekine, Irish singer-songwriter Christian Cole, and Mio Kojima and Maya Ober, co-directors of the Swiss-based intersectional feminist platform Futuress. Other highlights include documentary photography by German photographer Tamara Eckhardt of the Irish minority group Traveller, and an essay by Japanese artist Taro Karibe about his own experiences with depersonalization.
In Japan, various social issues are written in katakana. It is not uncommon to see such katakana prominently on the covers of books on display in stores. Among them, this magazine features the word "Troublemakers." As stated at the beginning of the magazine, it is not "Trouble makers" but a single word. It is a word with a rather negative image. In contrast, the hands on the cover are clasped tightly together. English and Japanese. Translation and editing. Photography and design. This is a book filled with the thoughts of many people. (Ammel)
