The title "Super Kyoto" is a reference to Superstudio, an Italian architectural group known for their grid patterns. French artist Simon Baudovin spent last year in Kyoto, photographing many of the tile-walled buildings found throughout the city. The dystopian landscapes once envisioned by Superstudio have, over time, unfolded in a completely different land: Kyoto. Grids are the backdrop for many objects and shapes in everyday life.
