Selected Dreams 2020-2022

This is " Selected Dreams 2020-2022 " (2024) by Signer , the solo project of New Zealander Bevan Smith .

In the fall of 2020, as COVID lockdowns were in full swing, Smith began his own personal ritual: listening to an entire '70s experimental jazz album every night, followed by producing his own music on a single device (the Synthstrom Deluge). These recordings, entitled Isolated Dreams, appeared without notice or promotion on the artist's Bandcamp page, with the first installment appearing in October 2020 and the latest (Volume 23) appearing in February 2024, as of this writing.

Selecting a cassette's worth of material from this rich archive was no easy feat, so we worked closely with the artists on the selection and arrangement of tracks. We've curated a selection of representative tracks from the first 15 volumes, and we hope that this physical release will bring much needed attention to this unique and ongoing electronic music project.
