Ita / Hinode Tapes & Hiroki Chiba

This is the "Ita" CD (2025) by Polish trio Hinode Tapes and bassist Hiroki Chiba.

"Ita" also marks a shift in aesthetic from Hinode Tapes' previous work, with the band members saying:

"The last one was quite dark, almost gloomy. This time, there's sunshine and brighter tonal colours - bells, triangles, Janissary-style percussion."

"I recorded it on an old multi-track tape recorder, which requires a lot of conviction in the playing, as there's very little editing possible. It was a very cleansing and humbling experience. This time I didn't play guitar, instead focusing on the other instruments. Field recordings I made during my travels in Japan play in the background throughout the album."

This work is a collaboration with Hiroki Chiba, who is also a member of the Shuta Hasunuma Philharmonic and worked on the soundtrack for the film "Enemy" directed by Daihachi Yoshida. This album marks the intersection of Polish and Japanese music. (Ammel)
