"ISKRA" LP (2025) by Polish multi-instrumentalist and composer Olga Anna Markowska.
Starting with "Dawn" and ending with "Dusk," this work is a journey of deep melancholy and beauty, filled with warm memories of the past and future.
Olga says:
"The cello pieces in particular were born from a desire to reconnect with the instrument I'd loved since childhood. But I needed to take a break, so after two years of laying it down, I approached it with a new perspective."
"ISKRA is an album of ignition. It represents a gradual change in my outlook on music and a search for new values. It also heralds the dawn of new ideas while incorporating past recordings."
Recorded at different times and places between 2017 and 2022, ISKRA is a work that connects the dots of the past while reaching out into the distant future.
Following the shock of their previous album Thrills on cassette, they have already released their debut album on LP. Although it has some disturbing melodies, it expresses a foggy world with a warmth that permeates. It may sound simple, but I highly recommend it (Ammel).
