Hayashi's "collage-like expression" is on full display throughout Ambivalence, an album he produced and performed entirely by himself. Opening with "Overflow," a Cecil Taylor-inspired club track, its freeform nature sets the tone for the cosmic, hypnotic, almost ritualistic approach of the rest of the album.

AMBIVALANCE is a serious album with distorted piano sounds and tribal percussion. Hayashi Yoshinori's first album, which takes you to another world with songs like Overflow and Down Stream, is now available on CD (Ammel).
