A Plane Over Woods / The Vernon Spring

A Plane Over Woods (2021) is the debut album by The Vernon Spring, Sam Beste's solo project.

The film was written in 2019, in the midst of losing his father, and completed in 2020 during the first lockdown due to the spread of COVID-19.

The LP is already SOLD OUT, but the CD is available exclusively in Japan. The domestic version includes bonus tracks for 18 songs in total, including four singles not included on the album: "Another," "Strength Of A Young Man," "Ulpiano," and "Waves Know Shores (a cover of James Blake's song)."

*The preview is the LP version, so the bonus tracks are not included, but rest assured that they are included in the actual product (CD).

The muted piano is a pleasant touch, and the album includes covers of famous songs such as "Mother's Love" by Emahoy Tsege Mariam Gebru, an Ethiopian nun and pianist who passed away in March 2023. "Strength Of A Young Man," which also includes minimalist elements, is a must-listen. (Ammel)
