"PHANTOM BRICKWORKS (LPⅡ)" (2024) by Bibio.

PHANTOM BRICKWORKS is an ambient/drone project by British musician/producer Stephen James Wilkinson (aka Bibio), inspired by nature, landscapes and post-industrial sites. Stephen created the album by visiting decaying ruins across the UK, searching for traces of human presence there.

"Humans are very sensitive to the atmosphere and ambience of a place. Knowing the historical background of the place can intensify or dramatically change these feelings. Sometimes you can even hear sounds and voices in some way. I believe that place has something it wants to communicate," explains Steven. "Since releasing PHANTOM BRICKWORKS in 2017, I realized this was a project I could continue on with. Elements of PHANTOM BRICKWORKS have gradually seeped into my other albums, but I felt this project had its own unique existence."

This work by Bibio is known for its nostalgic guitar phrases and electronic vocals. This is the second in a series that focuses on drone and ambient music, and it features improvised sounds that are linked to places and memories (Ammel).
