This is the "Shitsurai" LP (2025) by Meitei.
A work that was previously only available digitally is finally being released on vinyl.
Hiroshima-based musician Meitei created this piece, Shitsurai, as music that embodies the idea of WARA, a group that creates a world that reflects Japanese traditions and sensibilities. The piece expresses the lyricism of the passage of time, with the theme of the 24 solar terms of the Japanese calendar, which divides the four seasons into six parts: the beginning of spring, the beginning of summer, the beginning of autumn, and the beginning of winter.
In order to embody the concept of "Shitsurai" (decorating, arranging, etc.), which is the title of the EP, emphasis is placed on the space between the rooms, with Meitei himself playing and recording on the piano, and the album being meticulously edited and arranged.
While the core theme that Meitei explores is reinterpreting "Lost Japan" (the Japanese atmosphere that is disappearing), this work offers a glimpse into Meitei's unique sound world from a new perspective that differs from his previous works.
The concept of the music is of course interesting, and the jacket, which links to the word "Shitsurai", is also very beautiful. This work was born out of Meitei's musical world and KITCHEN. LABEL's strong commitment to vinyl (Ammel).
